CAMRA Event – Tour of Victoria Caledonian Brewery & Distillery – Monday, October 17, 21:00 – Enterprise Way, Victoria
The Victoria chapter of the Campaign for Real Ale is hosting their monthly meeting at Victoria’s newest brewery, the Victoria Caledonia Distillery & Brewery, for a tour hosted by brew-master Dean McLeod.
The company is primarily a distillery of single malt whiskey, but as it takes at least three years for a batch of whiskey to mature they have also started a great line of beers under the Twa Dogs brand.
To attend, you either need to be a CAMRA member or go along as a guest.
Craft Cider Lands on the Moon – Tuesday, Oct 18, 17:00–11:00 – The Moon Under Water, Victoria
The Moon Under Water is dedicating a night to local craft ciders in celebration of BC craft cider week.
There will be eight ciders on tap, including:
- Merridale- Apple pie, Hemp hop
- Sea cider- Rumrunner, Bitter Sweet
- Tod creek – Mala-hop, Coastal Blue
- Spinnakers- Tequila barrel aged cider, pear cider
Double Mountain tap takeover – Wednesday, Oct 19, 11:00–01:00 – Garrick’s Head Pub, Victoria
Brew Master Matt Swihart will be on hand and there will be shirts and other swag up for grabs.
I’m hoping the have their imperial IPA, Belgian quad, and Flanders red on tap!
BC Beer Awards Tasting – Thursday, Oct 20, 18:30–20:00 – Vessel Liquor, Victoria
Each month Vessel Liquor hosts a seminar and tasting presented by Thirsty Writer Joe Wiebe. This month Joe plans to focus on the winners of the B.C. Beer Awards
Tickets are $20, which includes eight samples of beer.
Driftwood Brewmasters Dinner – Thursday, Oct 20, 18:00–21:00 – Crooked Goose Bistro, Victoria
Crooked Goose is hosting a special Driftwood Brewmasters dinner night, which consists of a four course beer-paired dinner with an Oktoberfest-themed menu and five of Driftwood brewery’s finest creations.
Driftwood’s Gary Lindsay will be in attendance.
BC Cider Week Cask Night – Thursday, Oct 20, 15:00–23:00 – Spinnakers Brewpub, Victoria
Spinnakers will be tapping three cask-conditioned, specialty cider casks in honor of BC craft cider week.
Red IPA Cask Night at Red Arrow Brewery – Thursday, Oct 20, 17:30–20:00 – Red Arrow Brewery, Duncan
Red Arrow is tapping a special new Red IPA fondly called “The Hunt for Red Hop-Tober.” The say you can expect roasted caramel and nutty malt tones, complimented by an earthy and resinous hop linger.
24th Annual Bite of Nanaimo – Friday, Oct 21, 16:00–21:00 – Beban Park Community Centre, Nanaimo
TheatreOne will light up Beban Park Auditorium this October 21st from 4-9pm with a twinkly, international theme at its 24th annual Bite of Nanaimo: Paris Nights.
Guests will enjoy the ambience of the City of Lights décor, while they sample select menu items prepared by the region’s finest restaurants, cafes, breweries, pubs, caterers and bistros.
The Bite offers a diverse selection of vendor booths this year, including returning beverage participants Arbutus Distillery, Wolf Brewing Company, and Longwood Brewery. Sweet and savory fare will be prepared by longtime participants Cassidy Country Kitchen, The Culinary Institute of Vancouver Island, VIU’s Baking Program, Longwood Brew Pub, Lighthouse Bistro & Pub, Original Joe’s, the Oxy Pub, and Simonholt. New participants this year include: Stir Cooking School, Smoke ‘N Water, the Vault Cafe, Sea Salt Food Company, Coco Cafe & Cedar Opportunities Co-operative, Paradise Island Foods, and Wild Poppy Bistro. Tourism Nanaimo will be back again this year too, with a selection of Nanaimo Bar Trail restaurants; and Winston’s Tea Company is on board again as a tea vendor and ticket sales outlet.

Stein and Dine – Saturday, Oct 22, 19:30–22:30 – Victoria Public Market
Entering it’s third year, the event is a celebration of traditional German food and BC craft beer.
Tickets are $45, which gets you:
- One 12oz branded glass stein
- Three 12oz drink tickets
- One food ticket
Additional food tickets are $5 each and addition drinks tickets are $5.25 each.
Confirmed breweries are Phillips, Driftwood, Hoyne, Bridge, and Naramata cider.
Roast will be serving up:
- Pork Schnitzel Balls on roasted potatoes with melted Gruyere cheese and beer gravy
- Beer Braised Chicken Bratwurst on braised red cabbage and potato pancake
- Vanilla Ice Cream BEER floats from Parachute Ice Cream
