Driftwood Brewery in Victoria B.C. has just announced a brand new seasonal release: Clodhopper Belgian Dubbel.
This rich malty beer showcases local barley grown by Mike Doehnel, much like last year’s Pilsner Doehnel, and rings in at 7% ABV.
The beer should be hitting Victoria stores this week and making its way to the mainland next week. It’s a limited release, so supplies are limited and it won’t make it to beyond B.C., unfortunately.
Clodhopper Belgian-style dubbel is brewed with local barley grown and malted on the Saanich Peninsula by artisan maltster Mike Doehnel. Dark candi sugar brings out big caramel with a balanced, subtle sweetness highlighting Belgian-style brewing techniques applied to the local flavours of island-grown malt.
