Steamworks have really been upping their game recently and putting themselves back on the craft beer map. If you’ve not tried their BC Beer Award best-in-show winning Flagship IPA, I would highly suggest picking one up, because it is delicious.
Now they’re getting into the barrel aging game with the launch of a new aging programme that should allow their brewers to experiment more. The first of these ventures is a 9.5% ABV imperial stout that has been aged for several months in Woodford Reserve & Jack Daniel Barrels, allowing it to take on flavors of bourbon and oak with aromas of vanilla & chocolate.
The beer will be available in early December in 650ml bombers at select private liquor stores, however you can get your hands on early if you visit their taproom this Friday, November 25th at 12 p.m. They will also be tapping the first of only 7 kegs produced of the beer and will be serving glasses until all are tapped.
