The 12 Beer Reviews of Christmas #4: Spinnakers Vic West ISA

20161228_225721.jpgOn the fourth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me…

From the label:

Brewed with the finest malted barley, imported hops and Spinnakers’ own deep well aquifer pure mineral water, Spinnakers Nut Brown Ale exhibits a refreshing light body with hints of delicate nutty flavours. Serve slightly chilled.

Stats: ABV: 4.5%; IBU: 55

Tasting notes:

This beer pours out a light yellow with a finger of foamy head that dies quickly and leaves little lacing.

The nose is floral and citrusy hops with a hint of biscuit malt in the background. The palate is… pretty bland, there’s just a mild, watery, soapy taste. The mouthfeel is light-bodied and thin, with moderate carbonation, and a off-dry finish.

So, I’m not a huge ISA fan. In my opinion, if you can’t handle an IPA, then drink a pale ale. Simple! This has to be the worst example I’ve tasted from BC, though. It was watery and soapy.

I hope to hell this 12 Days pack gets better!
