On the sixth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me…
From the label:
This is a light bodied, lightly hopped, straw coloured effervescent Pale Ale with a delicate hop aroma and a balanced, slightly sweet finish.
Stats: ABV: 5%; IBU: 18
This beer pours out a cloudy golden straw colour with two fingers of head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice bit of lacing.
The nose is biscuit malt and toffee, with the faintest hint of citrusy hops. The palate is very similar and is dominated by malt flavours with the hops taking a back seat. The mouthfeel is light-bodied, with moderate carbonation, and a slightly sweet finish.
Well, this is a tricky one. I am a big hop head, so like my pale ales a little hoppier; however, this is a traditional / English-style pale ale, modeled after the first beer served at Spinnakers in 1984. So for the style, it’s pretty on point.
This is a serious improvement on the previous beers in the calendar. To start with, it wasn’t slightly sour like the previous ones. Still, not exactly mind-blowing.
