Phillips Brewing to Release Hammer Oak Aged Imperial Stout

unnamed.pngRemember when I listed all of the Phillips seasonal releases that I wanted to see return this winter? Well, it looks like someone was listening, because not only did Anxiety come back, but now Hammer is back! Who knows what will be next (I do!).

I really like this imperial stout. This is the bourbon barrel aged version, so might be a little boozy at first, so make sure to pick up a second bottle to age for a few months. I know I will.

There will be a tasting at brewery on Thursday January 19th from 4-6pm. See you there!

January 16th, 2017: It’s Hammer Time! This year’s vintage was carefully aged in freshly emptied bourbon barrels.  It pours a deep earthy brown colour and features a full-bodied, roasted flavour profile with hints of dark chocolate, vanilla and coconut.  This beer pairs beautifully with dark winter nights, or if you have the patience, is a great candidate to make disappear for awhile in your beer cellar gulag.

The season is brief, and craft beer comrades are recommended to grab their Hammer quickly before rations are exhausted.

If you find yourself in Victoria, join us down here at the brewery this Thursday January 19th from 4-6pm for a special draft tasting of this seasonal favourite.
