Andina Brewing Opens its Doors in East Vancouver

16002847_1358723414178181_1110838558028240955_nGreat news! Andina Brewing opened the doors of its tasting room in East Vancouver today. Their huge yellow facility on Powell Street has had a “coming soon” sign in the window for close to a year now, but they received their final permits yesterday and had a soft opening at 11 a.m. today, with a grand opening planned later in the month

Andina is a family-run business, owned and operated by Columbia-Canadian bothers Nicolás and Andrés Amaya. Their wives, Rocio and Claudia Lievano-Amaya, who also happen to be sisters, are the Communications and Marketing Director and Financial Director respectively.

Along with head brewer Andrew Powers they aim to bring South American inspired beers to BC, including seasonal beers made with fruit from South America and Patagonia malt. At opening, their core beers will be the Melchocha Andean mild ale, the Monita blonde IPA, the Totoma Kölsch, and the Ay Ay Ay American pale ale.

The tasting room is decorated with Andean-inspired accents and artwork, including specially commissioned photographs of Columbian landscapes. Along with beer they serve Chilean and Argentinian wine, South American cocktails, and South America foods like Ceviche—traditional Andean dish, where raw foods are “cooked” in lime juice.
