Lighthouse Brewing in Victoria has announced the release of their new Groundswell fresh-hopped India pale lager.
Groundswell is an India pale lager, or IPL. Like a lager, IPLs are fermented with lager yeast at cooler temperatures for a longer period of time, rather than a short warm fermentation with ale yeast.
Groundswell was brewed with fresh Cascade, Centennial and Mt. Hood hops that were locally sourced from Cedar Valley Hop Yards and put into the brew kettle within 24 hours of picking. Groundswell is said to light-bodied with a crisp finish, accompanied by spicy bitterness and citrus and grapefruit aroma.
A limited number of bombers are available now at the Lighthouse tasting room and kegs will be hitting the growler station later this weekend. Bottles will begin shipping to stores early next week.
