Dageraad Brewing in Burnaby BC has released a new draught-only dark ale called Lekkers.
Lekkers is a dark Belgian ale that was designed to emulate Belgian chocolate with candied orange peel in it. The orange peel is said to be fairly subtle, and there’s no actual chocolate in it, just some roast malt. They also say that there’s a cool over-ripe cherry flavour coming from the Trappist ale yeast they used to ferment the beer. The overall balance is described as being richer, fuller and a bit less crisp than Dageraad Beers usually are, which is very appropriate for the beer.
Lekkers is available on draught and on growler fill at the brewery and a limited number of kegs are going to select bars and restaurants.
