Driftwood Brewery in Victoria BC has announced the release of the 2017 vintage of Old Cellar Dweller.
This barley wine-style ale shows huge malt body, with notes of caramel and toffee, complemented by ample hop bitterness to support it. When young, it is a hoppy treat with plenty of citrus and pine; cellared for a few years and Cellar Dweller gracefully ages into a rich, round reward for patience, hinting at flavours of tawny port.
This is the tenth annual batch they’ve released and the fifth I’ll be adding to my cellar collection. I used to have them from the second release, but did a vertical and had to start again.
You can find Old Cellar Dweller now at select private liquor stores in Victoria and it should start appearing on the mainland later this week.
