Jan 19–20: Dine Out 2018 – East Van Beer and Food Tour

Vancouver Brewery Tours, Vancouver, BC; 16:00–19:30

Hop-on tour with Vancouver Brewery Tours to experience the best craft beers and culinary dishes coming out of the craft breweries of East Vancouver!

Now in our 5th year with Dine Out Vancouver, the East Van Craft Brewery and Food Tour celebrates not only the vibrant craft beer community that is East Vancouver, but also the emerging and exciting culinary food scene happening inside some of these breweries.

We’ve handpicked a few of our favourite breweries in East Vancouver for this tour, starting at the award-winning Strange Fellows Brewing where it’s all about the beer. Your journey continues on to the Italian influenced Luppolo Brewing Co. and then to the Columbian heritage of Andina Brewing Co. to savour carefully prepared, culturally inspired dishes that showcase the true progression of the East Van brewery culinary scene.

What’s included? You’ll enjoy full transportation via the Vancouver Brewery Tours van including pick up and drop off. Our knowledgeable and fun guides will take you behind the scenes at each stop where you’ll learn about the brewing process, enjoy full flights of beer, meet other beer lovers; enjoy food at the final two stops and much more

Jan 20: Up Helly Aa 2018

Strange Fellows Brewing, Vancouver, BC; 19:00–21:00

Inspired by Up Helly Aa, the pagan fire festival that symbolizes the rebirth of the sun, we’ll send wishes for the New Year on the smoke of our flaming longship. Oh yes!

Join us on January 20th for some flaming fun and a toast to our fellows. “Drink hail! I drink and good luck be to you!” Expect some fiery surprises as well as “Black Moon Boilermakers” (featuring a shot of White Rye from Resurrection Spirits with a glass of Cask Blackmail Stout), and Scottish Hand Pies from the Pie Shoppe.

Up Helly Aa is the Shetland Island’s annual fire festival that celebrates, in proud Viking style, the end of Yuletide feasting and symbolizes the rebirth of the sun. A replica of a Viking Longship is dragged through the streets of the darkened village, to a hilltop where it is ceremoniously torched, then followed by uproarious celebration until the wee hours. What else is one to do in the bleak of winter on a tiny Northern island?

January 20th 7-9pm
Oh, and a beer on the house will be given to those in kilts!
