Parallel 49 Brewing in Vancouver BC is set to release a special barrel-aged sour beer called Late Bloomer.
This pale mixed-culture sour ale, was aged in French oak barrels for six months and refermented on top of freshly picked whole Lapin Cherries from Naramata.
It is said to have a juicy cherry aroma with white grape esters and some background wildness from their blend of Brettanomyces and the local microflora from the Okanagan to complement the fruit. Cherry skin, almonds and some oaky spice dominate while the beer’s medium acidity keeps a clean, tart finish.
Late Bloomer will only be available at the P49 beer store and will be released on January 20.
