Not all great beers are available in bottles at the liquor store and here’s two great examples. Both Axe & Barrel in Langford and Sooke Ocean Side Brewery in Sooke (duh) have brewed up some new beers that are only available in their tap room.
SOB has Atomic Gluten Bomb on tap, which is a 5.5% winter wheat ale with hints of dark fruit, chocolate, caramel, toasted malt, with a medium body and a slightly dry finish.
While you are out there, make sure to also check out their Stuck in the Mud coffee stout. It was originally meant to be a single batch, but demand was so high they made it again! It’s a really smooth and easy-drinking porter made with cold brew coffee from Stick in the Mud. The coffee is strong, but doesn’t overpower the rich malt backbone.
The beers are available for a limited time in flights and for growler fills.
Axe & Barrel has their Double Shot espresso porter on tap, which is a 5% espresso porter made with fresh espresso shots from Cafe Fantastico. Being made with fresh espresso makes this one pretty intense, but I like that. It’s like drinking a boozy americano. Just don’t drink it before bed!
The beer is available for growler fills and on tap in the brew pub.
