Category 12 Releases Elemental Series Raw Ale

Raw Ale is a westcoast farmhouse ale brewed with Brettanomyces and red cedar. Check out the description below:

Reaching back across the millenia, we’re created our version of an ancient ale that is fermented without ever being boiled. This Scandanavian-inspired farmhouse raw ale combines our heritage with our brewing “family” by infusing West Coast red cedar from the workshop of local Coast Salish artist, Chris Paul, who also contributed art to our label.

A primary Brettanomyces fermentation, merged with the benefits of refermentation in the bottle, results in a deliciously light, crisp, and complex beer that encapsulates our Elementary series’ commitment to experimentation and innovation.

You can find bottles from today at the Category 12 retail store and select liquor stores in Victoria, with Vancouver to follow shortly.

Steamworks Releases 2017 Batch of Killer Cucumber

Steamworks Brewery in Burnaby BC has announced the release of a fresh batch of their summer seasonal Killer Cucumber Ale.

Killer Cucumber Ale leads with clean and uncomplicated citrus and cucumber notes before a flash of acidity and brisk carbonation add to the flavor’s refreshment. This gherkin-geared ale showcases the refreshing side of a much overlooked veggie, and lends beer a verdant vibrancy, perfect for beaches, barbecues, and lazy afternoons.

Tall cans of this limited release will appear in private liquor stores and the Steamworks taproom this week.

Two Wolves Brewing Releases Inaugural Beers

This month, they are set to release their first two beers, their Arctic Blonde Ale and Great Plains Brown Ale.

Vancouver, BC— New beer brand Two Wolves Brewing Inc. (Two Wolves) announces its launch with the release of two pure Canadian beers, available in July 2017.

The British Columbian start-up partnered with award-winning brewer Warren Boyer to produce its range, which is inspired by an old legend of the same name. To create a harmony between light and dark sides within us all, Two Wolves presents a bright Arctic Blonde Ale for the light side and a smooth, rich Great Plains Brown Ale to soothe the darker character.

The namesake story is a teaching about life and the struggle within us to be good or evil. The side that wins is dependent on which wolf one chooses to ‘feed’. It is the brainchild of Canadian hospitality veteran David Chadwick and like David, Two Wolves comes alive in the outdoors.

“Canada is a great country. I have spent my whole life filling weekends with trips to the wilderness and making the most of what’s around me. Adventuring is what Canadians do, it’s a part of our lifestyle—and the best part is it is available to everyone,” said David Chadwick, CEO and Founder, Two Wolves.

He continued, “That’s what our company ethos is about. We want to make great beers that everyone can enjoy—flavours you can come back to time and time again, whether it’s with your friends in a pub or packed with your camping gear.”

“Our aim is to connect beer drinkers back to the outdoors and encourage them to explore both sides. Wherever they are, Two Wolves will be there with them, because we are from there too.”

Two Wolves Brewing will be donating five cents from the sale of every can and bottle across the country to supporting the protection of wolf habitats in Canada and aiding in the prevention of their extinction. “Wolves are critical to the eco-system of this country” says Chadwick, “It is something that we are passionate about and we want to do our part to ensure that 100 years from now they are still thriving.”

You can find Two Wolves beer in retail outlets and hospitality establishments throughout Western Canada from July 2017.

Brasserie Dunham and Twin Sails Collaborate on Le Quench du Soif

Brasserie Dunham in Dunham, Quebec has announced the release of Le Quench du Soif.

Le Quench du Soif is a Wild IPA brewed in collaboration with Twin Sails Brewing from Port Moody BC.

Bottles will be released at the brewery on Saturday July 15th and will begin shipping out during the summer. Word is that we should see a few hit BC.

Strathcona Releases Blackberry Berliner Weisse

Strathcona Beer Company in East Vancouver BC has released their new Blackberry Berliner Weisse.

This bright, refreshing European sour ale is moderately carbonated, light in body, with a mild, tart fi­nish. A blend of fresh blackberry juice, wheat malts, and oats produces a beautifully balanced, light purple coloured beer.

You can buy it now at the Strathcona retail store.

Moon Under Water Releases 2017 Edition of Tempus Corvi

Moon Under Water in Victoria BC is preparing to release a 2017 batch of Tempus Corvi. Released once every 2 years, this barrel fermented sour saison was originally brewed in collaboration with local award winning homebrewer, Dave Janssen.

Taking inspiration from traditional saison brewers of Belgium and revivalist brewers of North America, Tempus Corvi is a mixed-fermentation saison. They let this saison rest for 5 months in French oak wine barrels where the activity of a diverse collection of Saccharomyces and Brettanomyces yeasts and lactic acid bacteria transformed the beer, adding sourness and additional complexity. With its bright acidity and light body, Tempus Corvi is a refreshing beer ready to drink now or be cellared for continued development along its own course.

Tempus Corvi will be released at the brewery on June 24 and will be available on tap and in limited cork and cage bottles while it lasts!
