Dageraad Releases 2017 Batch of De Witte

Dageraad Brewing in Burnaby BC has released a fresh batch of De Witte.

De Witte is a sour witbier made with passionfruit and dry-hopped with American Citra hops. This year’s edition of De Witte is said to be extra juicy, as they played with their dry-hopping procedure a little, borrowing a little something from the techniques used to produce hazy IPAs. De Witte was always hazy and juicy, and it’s possible that this year’s batch is hazier and juicier still.

Bottles are not quite mature yet and won’t be available until next week, but they have it on tap, and for the first time ever, they are offering growler fills of the beer.

Kegs have gone out to a few bars this week, and bottles and kegs will start popping up all over the place next week.

Hoyne Release 2017 Batch of Entre Nous

Hoyne Brewing in Victoria BC has released a fresh batch of Entre Nous.

Entre Nous (French for “between us”) is a limited summer seasonal release brewed with Belgian witbier yeast and a generous amount of BC black cherries.

This smooth wheat ale has a tangy fruitiness from the cherries, with a crisp refreshing body and off-dry finish that is perfect for warm summer days… or unpredictable late-spring days.

Parkside Releases Dim Wit Belgian Witbier

The Parkside Brewery in Port Moody BC has added a brand new full-time beer to its line-up.

Called Dim Wit, this Belgian-style witbier is said to be be light, cloudy and very easy drinking.

It is available on tap at The Parkside tasting room and is also available at select craft-focused bars and restaurants now

I look forward to trying it when I head over next week.

Fernie Brewing to Release Slow Drift Witbier, Old Barn Saison, and The Eldorado Single Hop IPA

(Fernie, BC) – Whilst news from the coast is that spring has long since arrived, local Fernie residents are surprised what each day will bring – sunshine and blue skies, torrential rain, or a few more face shots at the ski hill. Either way, spring is officially here, and as such, Fernie Brewing Co. has a plethora of returning and new seasonal brews over the next few weeks, to brighten up even the greyest of off-season skies…

First up is the popular Slow Drift Witbier. Formally known as Ol’ Willy Wit, this Belgian White Ale was rebranded back in the fall of 2016, to drift into line with FBC’s other catchy names. Retaining its distinctively refreshing sky blue and citrus yellow block colours, to match the new name it instead features an illustration of fly fishing on the local Elk River. As the perfect beer to partner with the perfect day in the mountains or on the water, this light and spicy citrus flavoured brew remains a fast and firm FBC favourite.

Whilst previously available only in bombers, this refreshing brew is making its way into 473ml cans – a third amigo to the already available and popular, What the Huck and Kickstand Honey Kolsch. With no change to recipe, this light, citrusy flavoured brew has finally found its home in this easy-to-go packaging format, and looks forward to an adventurous and thirst-quenching spring, summer and beyond…

Slow Drift 473ml cans are officially launching in the Tasting Room, Thursday March 23rd. It’s also available on tap for tastings and Growler fills. Available throughout BC and AB the second week of April.

Next up, Old Barn Saison. A very aromatic and flavourful golden brew, with spicy, peppery and fruity notes. The classic New Zealand Pacific Jade hops makes for a very engaging hop profile for this beer. Surprisingly light, but packs a punch of flavour to enjoy, the Old Barn was a big hit during its inaugural year, taking two awards from the BC Beer Awards and the Okanagan Fest of Ale, for Best Saison.

Lastly, for all the eager hop heads out there, The Eldorado Single Hop IPA is back, as part of FBC’s annual, rotating 6-part IPA Series. Last year, this IPA was a hot commodity and with its limited quantities, left a lot of people on the hop. Eldorado Hop is the focus of this single hop, unfiltered IPA, with a distinctive Lemongrass addition to provide a little extra citrus zing to the distinctive stone fruit flavours.

The Old Barn Saison and The Eldorado Single Hop IPA are both officially launching in the Tasting Room, Friday March 24th, for bombers, tastings and Growler fills. Available throughout BC and AB the first week of April.

Fernie Brewing Co.’s Tasting Room is still operating Winter Hours of Monday to Thursday 10AM-7PM, Friday and Saturday 10AM-8PM and Sunday 12-6PM, for packaged product, Growler fills, flights, samples and merchandise.

Dageraad to Release Dageraad White, a Belgian-Style Spiced Witbier

Dageraad Brewing in Burnaby, BC have announced a new addition to their year-round line-up.

With a citrusy aroma and a creamy palate, Dageraad White is their take on the spiced wheat ales or “witbiers” traditionally brewed in the Brabant region of Belgium. Flavourful but drinkable, Dageraad White pairs excellently with any dish that benefits from a spicy hit of citrus, such as fish or salad.

Dageraad White is fermented with Belgian yeast and bottle conditioned for natural carbonation, and an extra layer of complexity. Pour with care to leave the yeast sediment in the bottle.

Alcohol per volume: 5%
Volume: 650mL bottle, 29.3L keg, 50L keg
Ingredients: Malted barley, wheat, malted wheat, oats, spices, hops, yeast, water
